HJ Heinz chooses Accuware to provide Mobile labeling solution.

HJ Heinz deserts divisions selects Accuware as solution provider for Mobile device software to print labels using wireless Intermec CK31 mobile computers.

As a veteran supplier to HJ Heinz Accuware  has extensive expertise with browser based Mobile applications as well as Labelview design software experience.  Heinz was interested in a solution that combined the two areas. 

As the first component Accuware constructed a mobile application that uses a browser based hand held screen to create files that are dropped to a server to pick up and print.  The software can print to any number of printers that are installed on the server.   

The second component is a server process that watches for text files  produced by the web application. This process fires off a label print job to any printer that is installed at the server. This two piece approach was necessary to allow the security of the HJ Heinz servers to remain intact, while still allowing web clients using mobile devices to print labels.

Labelview Design and printing software is used as a component in the design and adds flexibility for Heinz  to be able to modify the label designs that are printed. The web application makes use of a dynamic form that varies in it’s presentation based on database values that Heinz can populate. This add customizability of the web forms by modifying database values. These values drive the text input fields that are presented on the web form as well as which raw database files should be used to look up detailed product data.    

Users will print to a combination of desktop Zebra ZM400 printers as well as  QL420 mobile printers that users wear in their belts. The Accuware XML connector software that drives the server process can be used with Labelview software from Teklynx as well as Bartender software from Seagull scientific. The system will be rolled out to as many as 15 plants throughout HJ Heinz in the coming months.
